The spawning run of coho and chum salmon were about 1 month later than historically but that is not surprising due to the dry fall we’ve had. McClughan Park behind Gordon Greenwood Elem. has been a good viewing spot this December.
If you see salmon spawning in the Yorkson or West Munday creeks, please let our volunteers know by emailing yorksonwatershed@gmail.com.
Did you know road salt is highly toxic to salmon eggs and invertebrates (salmon’s food source)? Please keep de-icing salt away from salmon streams and use sparingly, when necessary, on nearby paths. This bag of salt unfortunately ended up right in the creek.
The Township of Langley crews recently completed upgrades to the Yorkson Trail through McClughan Park. It’s a beautiful place to take a walk!
It’s going on now – huge salmon can be seen from the walkway bridge
