Our community is buzzing with the sightings of so many salmon returning to spawn in Yorkson watershed! Estimates are as high as 300 coho and chum. We are so encouraged that the efforts of so many partners working together to help salmon are paying off. And Mother Nature has been helping out with a generous portion of rainfall! Head out to the McClughan Park bridge for a great viewing platform.
On Nov.2 and 3, Volunteers planted 80 native trees and shrubs to replace invasive reed canary grass at Derby Hills Park next to Yorkson Creek wetlands. In the future, these beautiful plants will provide shade, help keep soil from eroding, and enhance biodiversity! Thanks to all the hard-working fabulous people who volunteered to get wet and muddy for a good cause.
