It’s November 2022 – salmon spawning season! The waters of Yorkson and Munday creeks are looking very welcoming for returning fish! If you spot salmon on your walk, please let us know by emailing yorksonwatershed@gmail.com.
Be sure to stay safely on the banks and keep pets on a leash to protect nests, eggs and spawners.
Yorkson Watershed Enhancement Society members are active this fall with a garbage clean up along the Yorkson ravine at 86th Ave. As well, we are pursuing a number of planting and restoration projects by applying for grants and working with the Township of Langley and LEPS. By partnering with researchers, we are now collecting data on water quality at several locations throughout the watershed.
We are restarting in-person meetings this month at RC Garnett Elementary School Library, the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30-9:00 PM. An zoom link is also available. New members are always welcome at our events and meetings. Email yorksonwatershed@gmail.com or call Lisa Dreves, Stewardship Coordinator with LEPS, at 604-546-0336.
